The ICSPA is delighted to announce its partnership with Comnet, the Commonwealth Secretariat’s ICT Foundation. Following a dinner at the British Embassy and a successful Round Table meeting in Washington, DC, this week, John Lyons, Chief Executive Officer of the ICSPA met with Joe Tabone, Chair of Comnet to sign the Memorandum of Understanding.

This affiliation will see the ICSPA and its member companies and law enforcement partners working together to support countries of the Commonwealth who have requested assistance in four key areas:

1.    Legislative frameworks and cyber laws, justice and prosecution services
2.    Enhancing law enforcement capability and capacity in the prevention, detection and investigation of cyber criminality
3.    Providing improved cyber protection for their Critical National Infrastructures
4.    Helping roll-out public information education, awareness and training programmes and campaigns on cyber security issues

Such assistance will be provided as part of the implementation of the “Commonwealth Cybercrime Initiative” – a programme of work which received approval from the 54 Commonwealth Heads of Governments at their meeting in Perth, Australia in October 2011.
